CivicBrand Teams Up with City of Orange, CA, for District Placemaking & Branding Project

DECEMBER 5, 2024

CivicBrand is thrilled to partner with the City of Orange, CA, on an ambitious District Placemaking & Branding project. This effort aims to create a bold vision, brand, and placemaking plan for a district poised for revitalization. Situated just across the Santa Ana River from the Honda Center and Angel Stadium—home to the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and MLB’s Los Angeles Angels—the district is perfectly positioned to benefit from the momentum of the massive OCVibe redevelopment in neighboring Anaheim.

OCVIBE, a transformative 100-acre entertainment district under development, will bring immersive experiences to Anaheim. Across the river, Orange is seizing the opportunity to create something distinctly its own—complementary to the energy of OCVIBE, but uniquely “Orange.”

Adding to the excitement is the district’s alignment with the OC Riverwalk Project, an initiative to rejuvenate the Santa Ana River corridor. This plan envisions transforming what is often a dry, cement channel into a vibrant, water-filled, and accessible space for recreation and connection.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Orange,” said Ryan Short of CivicBrand. “Many rivers in Southern California sit as empty cement drainages for most of the year. The OC Riverwalk Project aims to change that by holding water and reimagining the Santa Ana River as an iconic destination. Orange has a chance to be the gateway to this revitalized river, embracing it in a way that’s uniquely reflective of the city’s character. OCVIBE is a fantastic development, but Orange has the opportunity to offer something equally compelling yet distinct.”

CivicBrand has already completed multiple rounds of in-person and virtual engagement during the visioning phase. The team is now moving into the branding and placemaking phase, working closely with the community to bring this transformative vision to life.

Stay tuned for more updates as CivicBrand and the City of Orange collaborate to reimagine this incredible district and its role in the heart of Southern California!
