We’re All Surfing the Same Wave

City government, and all its many departments, economic development organizations, tourism and destination marketing agencies, chambers of commerce, realtors, businesses are often out there promoting the city whether they realize it or not. However, they are all doing it in their different ways.

This video below is one that we play in keynotes and place branding workshops and illustrates the noise and confusion that can come from so many different entities all trying to do the same thing but all in their own ways.

This is where the concept of a true place brand comes into play. Instead of every department and entity in a community all doing their own thing and promoting the city in different ways, we can instead align on a shared vision, shared messaging, and shared tools that everyone can use to align on how we are telling the story of the community.  A place brand still allows for freedom and flexibility for departments and separate entities while aligning around share principles and messaging to collectively elevate the place.
