District Brand & Placemaking Plan for Orange, CA
Positioned between historic Old Towne Orange and one of Southern California’s largest redevelopment projects, the district was poised for transformation but lacked the identity needed to shape investment, attract businesses, and create a sense of place. Through research, stakeholder engagement, and brand strategy, CivicBrand developed the name Orange Yards, creating a district identity inspired by the area’s historic citrus packing industry, industrial character, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Building on that foundation, we developed a placemaking framework and implementation strategy designed for incremental transformation. Because the district is made up of dozens of independently owned properties rather than a single master developer, the plan identifies phased opportunities for placemaking, streetscape improvements, wayfinding, and public realm investments that can be implemented over time as redevelopment occurs.
