Creating a single voice for a diverse community

The goal of the project was to uncover what makes Lubbock unique and then develop ways to tell that story to both residents and external audiences. By deploying a unified, strategic messaging plan and a consistent visual identity, the brand will help residents, business owners and visitors realize the value of the community and invest in its future.

Over the course of 14 months the Branding Committee worked closely with the team at CivicBrand to develop the brand. The most important part of the project was equitably engaging with the public and stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of why people choose to be in Lubbock, asking questions like “What makes Lubbock different from other places in Texas?”, “What are the cornerstones of Lubbock’s identity?”, and “Does everyone feel left out of the Lubbock story?” among others. The result is a brand that comes from the people of Lubbock rather than one that is handed down to them.
