This project is a public/private partnership between Preservation Dallas and the City of Dallas that sets out to capture Dallas’ physical history and map the important structures, cultural events and people that have shaped it into the vibrant city it is today. Embrace Dallas is about more than surveying buildings — it is uncovering the heritage laid within each brick.
CivicBrand was hired to create a brand and campaign around the project in order to raise awareness and funds to make the survey a reality.
Embrace Dallas is a survey for everyone. The information collected will be utilized by public officials, businesses, civic organizations, developers and citizens alike to better understand our past and help guide important decisions for the future. Therefore it was an essential part of our process to develop detailed audience personas so we could craft a message that resonates with each unique group and inspires them to support the project.
We explored numerous names for the campaign and project. We wanted a name that felt like a call to action that everyone could get behind – Embrace Dallas.
We interviewed city historians, developers, architects and cultural leaders to discuss why embracing and protecting the history of Dallas is important.
We designed and developed a website that provides information about the campaign. It speaks to the importance and need for a historical and cultural survey, and also provides detailed information about the survey and opportunities to support Embrace Dallas.
